A brand strategy can sound impressive while remaining strategically weak.
To evaluate credibility, leaders should apply three simple tests:
- Is it differentiated? Does the positioning clearly separate the company from alternatives?
- Is it believable? Can customers realistically trust the claim being made?
- Can operations sustain it? Does the business consistently deliver the experience the brand promises?
When one of these dimensions is missing, positioning becomes fragile.
A brand promise unsupported by execution eventually turns into reputational debt.
